The Most Dangerous Intersections for Car Accidents in California

August 17, 2023 in Motor Vehicle Accidents

Car accidents are both sudden and life-altering. A wreck can result in serious injuries resulting in paralysis, head trauma, broken bones, or even a wrongful death. While a driver should be cautious at all times, knowing where an accident is more likely to occur can be helpful in ensuring your safety. This article will discuss recent statistics regarding the most dangerous areas in our state as well as what to do if you have been in a wreck.

Statistics Show That California Accidents Tend to Be Concentrated in a Small Number of Intersections

Recent statistics show that car accidents are on the rise in California. The most dangerous areas in any given city tend to be concentrated in a small area of that city. In Los Angeles, for example, KTLA has reported that street deaths in the city have “…surpassed 300 for the first time in 20 years.” The intersections in which these wrecks occurred were disproportionately in South Central Los Angeles. These intersections included:

  • S. Vermont Avenue and W. Florence Avenue
  • W. Manchester Avenue and S. Normandie Avenue
  • Victory Boulevard and Lindley Avenue
  • W. Manchester Avenue and S. Vermont Avenue
  • E. Manchester Avenue and Avalon Boulevard

Similarly, in San Luis Obispo, accidents tend to be disproportionately concentrated at intersections along Santa Rosa St. According to Sanluisobispo.com, the most dangerous of these intersections is located at Santa Rosa St. and Foothill Blvd.

What To Do After a Car Accident

If you have been involved in a car accident, the first step you should take is to immediately seek medical care. If you have been injured and fail to obtain immediate care, then the defense may attempt to claim that your injuries were caused by some event that occurred between the time of the accident and the time at which you went to the hospital. You can potentially foreclose such an argument by gaining care immediately after a wreck.

The second step to take after an accident is to contact a personal injury lawyer as soon as possible. Adjusters for the defendant’s insurance company will often attempt to contact you immediately following the accident. These adjusters typically attempt to gain a “fast” settlement and will discourage you from retaining an attorney. You must remember, however, that these adjusters work for the insurance company. Their goal is to maximize the insurance company’s profits. They are not concerned with making sure that you receive the compensation which you deserve. Your attorney, by contrast, will be charged with protecting your interests and making sure you receive the largest possible settlement.
